In a surprising move, NetherRealm studios have announced Freddy Krueger as the 4th DLC character for MK9.
Back in June, NetherRealm Studios announced that there would be 3 more downloadable characters after the release of Skarlett, the first 3 characters (Skarlett, Kenshi and Rain) have now been released, and so NetherRealm have now announced the 4th character to be Freddy Krueger from ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’.
The announcement was made today at San Diego Comicon 2011 to the surprise of many. It seems the version of Freddy being released is the one played by Jackie Earle Haley from Samuel Bayer’s remake of the film.
Freddy was rumoured to be a character a few months ago, and there were also rumours of Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th as a character, but that has not yet been confirmed.
Freddy Krueger will be available for download from the Playstation Store on the 9th of August in America or the 10th of August in Europe. The announcement trailer is below.
