Look here for a collection of the main PSN stories from last week, including things to look out for in the coming days.
PlayStation Home
The new island that was sighted off PlayStation Home’s Home Square has been revealed to be a large mansion – with a tiger.
“Calling all rock stars, leading ladies, big ballers, shot-callers and connoisseurs of all that is fine and all that is fun!
[On] Wednesday 11th April you will finally get a chance to show the world your status as true members of the PlayStation Home elite when we release what is undoubtedly the ultimate gaming pad – the super-pimp and uber-posh Home Mansion.
This epic estate is Home’s first expandable personal space (the ground floor releases this week; additional levels and rooms will be available soon) and comes complete with exclusive clothing items (check out the gold lounge wear!), a built-in gifting machine (so you can spread the wealth and love amongst your friends), some of the finest furniture items money can buy (including a state-of-the-art Home TV), and even your own pet tiger (Markus – the head of the Home Mansion’s security team).” (From PlayStation.Blog)
Resistance: Burning Skies
Multiplayer details have emerged for the PS Vita title, Resistance: Burning Skies.
Here are some of the things players will be able to experience with the game:
- “8 player multiplayer – These small games feature intense 2 vs. 2 combat and larger games going up to 4 on 4 action.
Choose between ‘Quick Match’: a fast and easy way to get up and playing immediately or ‘Party with Friends’. Here you can use the Vita’s cross-game party application and party up with friends to join private matches.
- Rank Up! – Killing enemies and winning matches is the easiest way to earn XP and Rank Up.
Be rewarded with bonus XP for your daring feats of skill. For example, you may find yourself heavily rewarded for killing multiple enemies with a skilled grenade throw. Then you can unlock all your favorite weapons and upgrades from the story campaign as you rank up.
- Modify & customize your weapons – Upgrades you purchase can be slotted and unslotted from weapons at will, with some even giving your weapons a distinctive visual look.
Purchase upgrades for weapons that best suit your personal playstyle. For example, the fan favorite ‘Bullseye’ can be upgraded with Explosive Tag – which gives your Bullseye Tags and extra explosive kick. But keep in mind if you’re killed, your enemies may pick up your upgraded weapons and use them against you.”
Multiplayer in Resistance: Burning Skies will feature three game modes – Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and a third mode which will be revealed next week. “There will be six playable maps, taking you everywhere from the streets of Staten Island to the docks of Bayonne.”
The game is released on May 30th 2012.
StarDrone Extreme
StarDrone Extreme launched for PS Vita last week and combines pinball and space to create a visually impressive physics game.
For those who are unfamiliar with the game, players pilot a spaceship which they fire out of a cannon into the levels. From there on the spaceship is always moving, and it is up to the player to attach the ship to ‘gravity beacons’ to change the direction of the ship.
There are 60 levels, which requires players to complete objectives specific to that level. For example players may need to destroy all enemies or collect certain items in order to progress through the game.
The game uses the touchscreen of the Vita to allow you to attach the ship to a gravity beacon then release it when you’re going in the desired direction.
The game has been improved due to player feedback from the PS3 version of the game, with better UI and graphics. New features also allow the player to adjust the difficulty of the game, or to skip levels if they are to difficult.
Here’s a trailer for the game:
